Yonge and St. Clair: 1 St. Clair West Unveils Mural

On Wednesday, August 17, approximately 200 people attended the unveiling of internationally celebrated artist Phlegm’s newest public mural1 located at the heart of Toronto’s Yonge & St. Clair community. The guest list included members from Greystone Managed Investments Inc. (“Greystone”), city builders, project sponsors and representatives from the Office of the Mayor of Toronto.

The eight-storey mural, on the western facing wall of 1 St. Clair West, takes the shape of a person’s figure from a distance. As you get closer, you are able to see the finer details that make up the figure (i.e. Toronto’s urban landscape, skyline and most recognizable landmarks).

“I chose to work with the human form because it’s really what a city is,” states Phlegm. “A city is really just a mark left by all those billions of people that added to it and made it what it is.”

The Greystone Real Estate Strategy has invested in ten of the buildings at the dynamic intersection of Yonge & St. Clair, including the office buildings at all four corners — the mural’s canvas of 1 St. Clair West being one of those assets. Greystone’s real estate clients continue to benefit in our ongoing investment in this node as we continue to focus on urban and transit linked strategies as well as our commitment to acquiring and developing high-quality assets in strategic, irreplaceable locations.
